In our society, we are constantly exposed to stress factors, challenging moments in life and negative news. In the long term, this can have a negative effect on our health.
In Chinese Medicine, body and mind are inseparable and influence each other. Therefore in addition to a healthy lifestyle, it is important to deal with our own emotional state, the so-called "Shen". Research in Positive Psychology has also found that Happiness can prevent illness and promote resilience.
"Health is the ability to adapt and self-manage in the face of social, physical, and emotional challenges".

The path of life is often paved with rocks over which we stumble on a regular basis. Brené Brown (author and researcher on vulnerability and shame) describes in her books beautifully that if we are brave enough to embrace life wholeheartedly, we will fall. If we are willing to face the hurt and learn from our falls, we will be able to rise strong from this experience. But if we ignore these life lessons we will get stuck in the shame and fear that we experience when we fail, preventing us from growing and developing our full potential.
"The irony is that we attempt to
disown our difficult stories
to appear more
whole or more acceptable,
but our wholeness
- even our wholeheartedness - actually depends on
the integration of all of our experiences,
including our falls."

Brené Brown has been working as a researcher on vulnerability, courage, worthiness, and shame for more than 15 years. In her books, she describes in a very touching and compassionate way what she has learned through her work and her own experiences. I want to take this chance of my TCM Blog to share her inspirational message with others. For those who are interested in reading her books, I can highly recommend them. Her books are a great addition (if not a must have) for every book collection.
I wish you all the courage to live life wholeheartedly and to see the stumbles and falls as an opportunity to Rising Strong.
